The Blinged Up Alpaca started about five years ago as a small, handmade jewelry business founded and operated by Sara Boles in Edmonton, Alberta.
What started with a love of creating unique, handmade pieces quickly taught me something important:
Creating is the fun part. Running the business is a whole different story.
Websites, advertising, social media, customer messages, packaging, shipping, post office trips, inventory and everything in between can take up an enormous amount of time. Sometimes, the business side can become so overwhelming that the creative side gets pushed aside.
And let's be honest — the world has become complicated enough already.
That's when the idea for The Blinged Up Alpaca began to grow.
A Place for Canadian Creativity
I started thinking about all the talented makers, artists and small businesses out there who have incredible products but may not have the time, resources or desire to manage all of the business logistics that come with selling online.
What if there was a place where creators could focus on creating, while someone else helped with the selling and shipping side?
And what if that same place gave customers a convenient way to discover and shop from a variety of Canadian makers and small businesses all in one place?
That's what we're working to build.
